He seemed to encompass the American dream as he turned his vision of liberty and justice for all into historical precedent, becoming the first African-American President of the United States.  Yet he won far more than the presidency. By giving voice to our deepest fears, and nourishing our idealism, he won the hearts of millions of people.

He seemed to be a fighter of the good fight, a paragon of integrity, someone who would never let us down, and yet . . .

Did we only project our own illusions onto him? Who is really the man behind the words?  Who is the enigma named Barack Obama?

Only heaven knows.

First it’s important to right a misconception: a horoscope is not destiny. It is a “freeze frame” of the heavens at the moment of birth – a blueprint revealing strengths, talents, weaknesses and potential. However, character is destiny, and if we work to overcome our weaknesses, and strengthen our character, we can consciously alter our destiny. Then anything is possible, as Obama himself said:

“ It's only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential.”

Now, analyzing an astrological horoscope is serious business, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. So let’s imagine the twelve houses of the zodiac as Obama’s White House mansion. Each room represents a different aspect of his life: money, friends, love, career, family, sex, etc., and the twelve signs of the zodiac, Aries, Taurus, Gemini etc., create the theme party going on in each room.

Who are the guests?

Well, they’re the planets! Ten cosmic party goers with very unique personalities, hanging out in different rooms. How these planetary energies relate to each other and whether or not they crash the party is what astrology is all about.

So, are you ready to party?

Room #1 (Self)

There’s actually a double theme party going on. Progressive Aquarius, ruled by Uranus, is the primary theme, and its hi-tech nature is reflected in a medley of minimalist decor: chrome, glass, leather and gleaming steel. The only item representing the co-theme of sensitive, compassionate Pisces is a fish tank, but even the fish are monochromatic!

These are the two very different faces Obama shows to the world, and they are also how he sees the world: the cool, calm and detached persona of Aquarius, while his Piscean sensitivity swims enigmatically beneath the surface.
